Artist Statement

The road to authenticity is long and t
here's been chaos. Surprisingly, I find chaos has order...a self-organization within.

This quality of
re-organization is also everywhere in nature.  It's a theme in my work meant to challenge my preconceptions.

I ask if
beauty can come from chaos?

Process is important to the theme.

"Without Measure"

Porcelain pouches
are smoke fired
with combustibles
to leave
unpredictable color behind.

Randomness,
or "chaos",
seems to be an
irreplaceable ingredient.

Arranging
without thinking or analyzing
allows the work to
organize itself.

It's a slow process.

The final product is something that
 could only arrive after
"taking my hands off"
and
trusting the process.

The need to see beauty in everything
drives my work.
